Thirteen-year-old Rabbit lives an isolated existence with his overworked father, who is called The Hunter, because he is good at his work. As a border guard he has to find hidden migrants who cross the border.
In winter, when the snow blurs the contours in the landscape, Rabbit goes on a hunting trip with his father and his nephew. In the wild isolated landscape they feel at home until a stranger looming up in the distance disrupts their peace. When Rabbit takes a look through the sights of his father’s shotgun, he suddenly pulls the trigger. Tragedy erupts, shattering lives irrevocably.
The Hunter’s Son is a thrilling and atmospheric film about identity, strangeness and detachment from society.
